72 Hour House Weekend Event
A 1,200 sq. ft. fully developed home, built in one weekend through cooperation, generosity, and grit.
The Wesley First Nation and Timko Developments Ltd. participated in a monumental event on the Stoney Nakoda Nation Reserve, near Morley, Alberta.
We built a 1,200 sq. ft. fully developed main-floor home in 72 hours. The foundation was in place; at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010, we started, and we did not stop until the job was done.
The event demonstrated what is possible when a First Nation community and a construction partner align on a shared goal: providing much-needed housing through action, not just words.
Timko, our sub-trades, and friends provided everything, from hauling water and cooking meals to crane operators, temporary lighting, building materials, cabinets, and fixtures. The house was provided at no cost to the owners. Many people contributed cash, labour, and support to make it one of the most special occasions in Timko Developments history.
We thank everyone who participated. This is the kind of work that reminds us why we build.
